Labyrinth Event: Sunday, February 22, 2015 from 3 to 5 pm Vancouver BC, Canada.

I have come to drag you out of yourself
and take you into my heart.
I have come to bring out the beauty
you never knew you had
and lift you like a prayer to the sky.
If no one can recognize you, I do
because you are my life & soul.
Don't run away; accept your wounds
and let bravery be your shield.
It takes a thousand stages
for the perfect being to evolve.
Every step of the way I will walk with you
and never leave you stranded.
Be patient; do not open the lid too soon.
Simmer away until you are ready.
In this game I make the rules.
I roll you like a ball
and chase you when I choose.
~ Rumi

I am undecided where I will draw a labyrinth for this event, however, the low tide time will shift soon and make it possible to draw in the afternoon. It may be on Sunset Beach in English Bay or on Spanish Banks, depending on the weather. While I do prefer to draw on Spanish Banks, it can be chilly to be out there during this time of the year.  So I will check the weather forecast around February 14th and if the forecast is calling for cooler weather, I will draw on Sunset Beach. Please check back after the 14th for confirmation of the location of the labyrinth if you would like to come and 'walk.'

About Me

My photo
Walking a Labyrinth is like accepting an invitation to pray, meditate, contemplate, dream, celebrate or play; a place to find inspiration, satisfy a curiosity, examine metaphor, mythology or simply, a place to explore liminal space: a 'betwixt and between' place. . . Victor W Turner has described liminality as "a fructile chaos, a storehouse of possibilities, not a random assemblage but a striving after new forms and structures, a gestation process." Labyrinths are drawn on the foreshore, betwixt the nearshore and the backshore, between the low and high water marks to present liminal space as a physical location. Labyrinths may also be drawn during liminal time: dusk or dawn and/or solstice or equinox. The flags surrounding the labyrinth are used for a couple reasons: first they help people find the labyrinth at Spanish Banks. Next, they are used to create a natural acoustic environment. This auditory experience or sound scape ecology is intended to alter the perception and/or the perspective of visitors while they are walking the labyrinth.
