Labyrinth Event: Sunday August 24, 2014 from 12 noon to 2 pm at Spanish Banks, Vancouver BC Canada

Three things differentiate living from the soul versus living from the ego only. They are: the ability to sense and learn new ways, the tenacity to ride a rough road, and the patience to learn deep love over time.

Summer Solstice Labyrinth: Saturday June 21, 2014 from 9 to 11 am at Spanish Banks, Vancouver B.C., Canada.

Summer Solstice is a liminal day because it is a day 'betwixt and between' spring and summer. As such, it might be a day filled with 'fructile chaos, a storehouse of possibilities . . . (a day of) . . . new form(s) . . . (and) . . . gestation(s).'

Also look for a circle of lights in the sand, they will surround the labyrinth.

Reminder: you may need to cross shallow tides pools to arrive at the labyrinth location so come prepared.

Because this labyrinth will materialize at twilight or while the sun is setting, this event will take place during liminal time, in a liminal space or zone: on the foreshore, between the near and backshore. This double liminality will offer you 'a storehouse of possibilities' which will affect your perceptions.

at English Bay in Vancouver: on the Vancouver Aquatic Centre side of the Burrard Bridge beside the False Creek Ferries - as shown in the above picture.

Cost: by donation

In the spirit of reciprocity and gratitude, please bring a gift to offer to the Divine in Nature such as flowers, coffee beans, etc

For the directions to this site, please see the previous post:
Winter labyrinth location.

(It may be dark out for this event so look for a circle of lights in the sand. They will surround the labyrinth just like those in the picture above)

Winter labyrinth location:

Find the Vancouver Aquatic Centre which is located at 1100 Beach Avenue and 1400 Thurlow Street
Next, find the path leading down toward water that is beside the Aquatic Centre and opposite the Burrard Street Bridge side of the Aquatic Centre. Follow that path toward the water and pedestrian path.
On your right, looking toward the Burrard Street Bridge and the False Creek Ferries will be an Information sign.
Proceed to the waters edges and look for the labyrinth.
See pictures below.

About Me

My photo
Walking a Labyrinth is like accepting an invitation to pray, meditate, contemplate, dream, celebrate or play; a place to find inspiration, satisfy a curiosity, examine metaphor, mythology or simply, a place to explore liminal space: a 'betwixt and between' place. . . Victor W Turner has described liminality as "a fructile chaos, a storehouse of possibilities, not a random assemblage but a striving after new forms and structures, a gestation process." Labyrinths are drawn on the foreshore, betwixt the nearshore and the backshore, between the low and high water marks to present liminal space as a physical location. Labyrinths may also be drawn during liminal time: dusk or dawn and/or solstice or equinox. The flags surrounding the labyrinth are used for a couple reasons: first they help people find the labyrinth at Spanish Banks. Next, they are used to create a natural acoustic environment. This auditory experience or sound scape ecology is intended to alter the perception and/or the perspective of visitors while they are walking the labyrinth.
